Morgan Gist

Morgan Gist, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Morgan Gist joined White Oak Animal Hospital in September 2016. She brings 10 years of experience, including neurology and emergency medicine to the hospital. As a licensed veterinary technician, she is responsible for monitoring anesthesia, drawing blood, running lab work and patient care. Morgan’s veterinary areas of interest are pain control and reproduction.

“I enjoy working at White Oak Animal Hospital because of the team atmosphere and having many doctors and technicians to share ideas with,” Gist said.

At home, Morgan has an 8 year old beagle mix named Rizla and a 2 year old English Labrador name Lady. Morgan plans to breed Lady in the future. Morgan also holds a certificate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and enjoys living a holistic life with her husband and daughter.



Carly Rogers

Carly Rogers, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Carly Rogers joined the medical team at White Oak Animal Hospital in August 2010. Her responsibilities include monitoring anesthesia, drawing blood, placing IV catheters and reading cytology’s. Her favorite part of the job is when she is able to help save a patient’s life. Carly earned her Associate of Applied Science with a major in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College and is license in the state of Virginia.

Carly has been in the animal care field for eight years as a veterinary technician, a veterinary assistant and as a kennel assistant. “White Oak Animal Hospital is where my animal career began,” she says, “and it feels like home.”

Mari Doyle

Mari Doyle, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Mari Doyle joined White Oak Animal Hospital in 2014, and has over 14 years of experience in the animal-care field. As a veterinary technician, her responsibilities included placing IV catheters, drawing blood, monitoring anesthesia and reading cytology’s. Her favorite part of the job is canine behavior, and maintaining a high standard patient care. Mari has a teamwork mentality and a strong work ethic. She is licensed in the state of Virginia, and holds an Associate degree in Applied Sciences.

“The staff at White Oak Animal Hospital have an excellent sense of teamwork,” Mari Says.

At home, Mari has three Belgian Malinois dogs named Gru, Crash and Moana. She also has two German Shepherds named Phoenix and Saphira, a Chihuahua named Zoey and a Bengal cat named Bella. In her free time, she enjoys being the handler for her dogs in mondioring competition exercises, which focus on dog obedience, agility and protection. She also likes going to the movies, and spending time with family.

Tamara Riley Frantum

Tamara Riley Frantum, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Tamara Riley Frantum joined the animal-care team at White Oak Animal Hospital in 2011. She's worked in the animal field since 2004. Tamara's responsibilities include blood work, lab work, client education, surgery and radiology. She enjoys surgery and administering anesthesia the most out of her job responsbilities. With a background in teaching, Tamara is excellent at communicating and educating clients. She has associate degrees in applied science in veterinary technology and art history, and is licensed in the state of Virginia.

"Everyone at White Oak Animal Hospital is friendly, knowledgeable and wonderful," says Tamara. "They always put the pet's care first. We have modern technology to provide the best care possible for pets."

At home, Tamara has an African gray parrot and a terrier mix. She is a wedding officiant, and enjoys reading, gardening and riding motorcycles.

Amanda Goodrich

Amanda Goodrich, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Amanda Goodrich joined the staff at White Oak Animal Hospital in October 2004, and has worked in the veterinary field since 2000. At the hospital, Amanda's primary responsiblity is assisting the veterinarians as they treat patients. She enjoys helping patients feel better and is compassionate towards all animals and clients. Her special interests are neonatal care and nutrition. Amanda has a degree from Penn Foster College and is licensed in the state of Virginia as a veterinary technician.

"I still get excited when an orphan animal comes in," she says. "I love to educate our clients on caring for newborns and helping them thrive."

At home, Amanda has two dogs named Snickers and Beau; six cats named Kit Kat, Eight-Ball, Little Tyke, Scraggles, Sebastian and Lil Bits - a special needs furbaby who is parazlyzed; an albino minilop rabbit named Snow; five love birds, five turtles, several chickens, and a goldfish and koi pond. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, painting, making jewelry and reading.

Kathy

Kathy Kreissl, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kathy Kreissl joined the medical team at White Oak Animal Hospital in 2004. She is a licensed veterinary technician who holds an Associate degree in Applied Sciences, Veterinary Technology. At the hospital, Kathy is responsible for laboratory testing, administering anesthesia, venipuncture, client education and radiology. Her favorite part of the job is working with pets and keeping them calm. Kathy has worked in the animal-care field since 1989.

"We provide quality veterinary care for our clients and pets," Kathy says. "Everyone truly cares about what we do."

At home, Kathy has a 5-year-old Siamese mix named Wellington. She also keeps goldfish and freshwater Angelfish. In her free time, Kathy enjoys being in nature where she can walk and garden. She also likes music, going to concerts and traveling to new destinations.

Tori

Tori Fitzpatrick, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Tori Fitzpatrick joined our team in February 2018. She works alongside our clients to provide education, takes care of our hospitalized patients, monitoring anesthesia, and more. Tori's bubbly personality, combined with her five-year long history of working in the animal-related field, brings comfort and ease to our clients.

"I like that [working here] is something different than what I do on a day-to-day basis," she says. "And, of course, I love the people that I work with."

Tori has three pets - Tazer, who is two and a half years old, Trouble, and Tablet, who are both four years old. Her hobbies include hiking with her dogs, visiting the lake or river with her friends, going to the beach in the summer, having bonfires, and simply relaxing in the house with her pets.

Kerryn

Kerryn Kyriakedes, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kerryn Kyriakedes joined our team in June 2013, as a veterinary assistant. After a lot of dedication and hard work, she earned her veterinary technician license in May of 2018. As a technician she assists in patient care, surgery, obtains samples and performs diagnostic tests, and more. With a BS in Animal and Poultry Science from Virginia Tech, Kerryn's passion for animal care has been prevalent, along with her strong work ethic and positive attitude.

"I like working in a large practice because it allows me to learn from and work with doctors with different approaches," she believes.

At home, Kerryn has two dogs - Mia, her four-year-old Golden Retriever, and Pippin, her 11-year-old Border Collie/Poodle mix. In her free time, she loves playing with her dogs, as well as baking, cooking, kayaking, hiking, watching movies, and doing game nights and weekly trivia with her friends.

Office Team

Ashley Rakes

Ashley Rakes, Office Manager

Office Manager Ashley Rakes began working at White Oak Animal Hospital in 1998, and has been in the animal-care field for 28 years. She's previously worked as a kennel assistant, a veterinary assistant, a technician and a receptionist. Ashley's job responsibilities include human resources, scheduling, conducting staff meetings, ordering inventory, handling IT issues and more. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with the staff and clients.

"I love our staff. They are like my family," she says. "I enjoy meeting our clients and helping them have a great experience at White Oak Animal Hospital."

Ashley has a Terrier mix named Dobby, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix named Ali, a English Bulldog named Hulk, and a cat named Moonie. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, watching movies, dining out and spending time with her family.

Dog Trainers and Playtime Staff

Paula Thomas

Paula Thomas, Head Trainer, LVT, CPDT

Head Trainer Paula Thomas has been with White Oak Animal Hospital since 1999. Before implementing the hospital's training program, she worked as a licensced veterinary technician. As the head trainer at White Oak, Paula establishes training protocols, oversees trainers ensure appropriate techniques are being used, instructs classes and conducts behavioral consultations in hands-on dog training.

Paula has 33 years of experience working with dogs and horses. She says the best part of training is getting the opportunity to help clients with their dog's individual needs. Paula holds an Associate degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology, and is certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. She likes working at White Oak Animal Hospital because it's a "supportive, professional and fun place to be."

At home, Paula has nine American pit bull terriers, three cats, five horses, two goats, five rats and several chickens. She enjoys riding horses, playing with her dogs and spending time with her family.
