Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Carly Rogers, Team Lead - Licensed Veterinary Technician
Carly Rogers joined the medical team at White Oak Animal Hospital in August 2010. Her responsibilities include monitoring anesthesia, drawing blood, placing IV catheters and reading cytology. Her favorite part of the job is when she is able to help save a patient’s life. Carly earned her Associate of Applied Science with a major in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College and is licensed in the state of Virginia.
Carly has been in the animal care field for thirteen years as a veterinary technician, a veterinary assistant and as a kennel assistant. “White Oak Animal Hospital is where my animal career began,” she says, “and it feels like home.”
Carly’s favorite things include walking her dogs, watching Washington Capitals games, going to the beach, and traveling. She also loves spending time with her husband Trevor and daughter, Ella.
Amanda Goodrich, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Amanda Goodrich joined the staff at White Oak Animal Hospital in October 2004, and has worked in the veterinary field since 2000. At the hospital, Amanda's primary responsibilities are inventory and ordering. She also enjoys helping patients feel better and is compassionate towards all animals and clients. Her special interests are neonatal care and nutrition. Amanda has a degree from Penn Foster College and is licensed in the state of Virginia as a veterinary technician.
"I still get excited when an orphan animal comes in," she says. "I love to educate our clients on caring for newborns and helping them thrive."
At home, Amanda has six cats named Kit Kat, Eight-Ball, Little Tyke, Dalton, Scraggles, and Sebastian; one love bird, a white dove, two Russian tortoises; six chickens, and a goldfish and koi pond. In her free time, she enjoys resin crafts, painting, making jewelry and reading.
Kathy Kreissl, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kathy Kreissl joined the medical team at White Oak Animal Hospital in 2004. She is a licensed veterinary technician who holds an Associate degree in Applied Sciences, Veterinary Technology. At the hospital, Kathy is responsible for laboratory testing, administering anesthesia, venipuncture, client education and radiology. Her favorite part of the job is working with pets and keeping them calm. Kathy has worked in the animal-care field since 1989.
She takes pride in providing quality veterinary care with compassion for our clients and their pets.
At home, Kathy has a Siamese mix named Wellington. In her free time, she enjoys being in nature where she can walk and garden. Also, she likes music, going to concerts and traveling to new destinations.
Chris Mack, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Licensed Veterinary Technician Chris Mack joined our team part-time in June of 2020. She is responsible for administering treatments, medications, vaccines, completing diagnostics, caring for hospitalized patients, placing bandages on wounds, phlebotomy, placing IVCs, anesthesia induction, monitoring, surgery, and client education. Chris is so happy to treat our wonderful patients and is truly proud when she is able to win over the more challenging patients. She loves being challenged by the variety of cases that come into the office.
Chris has an Associate degree in Applied Science of Veterinary Technology and she is licensed in the state of Virginia. She is also the only staff member with one leg! Chris has 20 years of experience working in the veterinary care field and has previously worked as a receptionist, assistant, and as a technician for the past 18 years. Chris worked as a Director for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic in 2015.
One of Chris's favorite parts of her job is that she is able to work for such a wonderful family-owned business. The staff here truly has a family atmosphere and the quality of care is exceptional. Patients are always the top priority.
At home, Chris is the proud pet parent to her three cats: Cayden "Bug,” Simon, and Jigsaw (who is also missing a leg!). She also has an 11-year-old rescued Doberman named Chase and a Cane Corso puppy she foster-failed after animal control brought him to the clinic with a prolapsed rectum. She tends to rescue animals with a range of disabilities because she understands the challenges of living with a disability. During her free time, Chris enjoys DIY home renovations, fishing, going to Washington football games, and going to car shows with her dad.
Tori Geris, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Tori Geris joined our team in February 2018. Some of her daily tasks include care of our hospitalized patients, monitoring anesthesia, and more. She enjoys working with our clients on pet owner education. Tori's calm personality, combined with her decade long history of working in the animal-related field, brings comfort and ease to our clients.
Tori has a background in emergency medicine and is enjoying her transition to general practice. "I like that working here is something different than what I have done in the past," she says. "And, of course, I love the people that I work with."
Tori has four pets - Tazer, a German Shepherd, Osi, a ShihTzu Mix, Temper, a Malinois, and Tablet, a domestic shorthair cat. Her hobbies include hiking with her dogs, visiting the lake or river with her friends, going to the beach in the summer, having bonfires, and simply relaxing in the house with her husband, daughter, and pets.
Amy Younce, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Amy Younce joined our staff in April of 2021. As a veterinary technician, her favorite part of the job is caring for the patients and watching them improve! Throughout the day, some of her tasks include placing IV catheters, monitoring anesthesia, drawing blood, reading cytology, and educating clients. She graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate of Applied Science, majoring in Veterinary Technology.
“I enjoy working for a family-owned business,” she says. “I love working for a practice that provides wonderful care to our patients.”
Amy has four cats, Molly, Dunkin’, Lewis, and Clark, a Beagle-Shih Tzu mix named Brownie, and 10 chickens! In her free time, Amy enjoys camping and spending time on the river with her husband and family.

Ashley Rakes, Hospital Manager
Hospital Manager Ashley Rakes began working at White Oak Animal Hospital in 1998 and has been in the animal-care field for over 30 years. She's previously worked as a kennel assistant, a veterinary assistant, a technician and a receptionist. Ashley's job responsibilities include human resources, scheduling, conducting staff meetings, ordering inventory, handling IT issues and more. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with the staff and clients.
"I love our staff. They are like my family," she says. "I enjoy meeting our clients and helping them have a great experience at White Oak Animal Hospital."
Ashley has a Terrier mix named Dobby, a Chihuahua named Smoosh, and 2 cats; a Devon Rex named Willard, and a domestic shorthair named Coop. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, watching movies, dining out and spending time with her family.

Dog Trainers and Playtime Staff
Paula Thomas, Team Lead - Dog Trainer, LVT, CPDT
Head Trainer Paula Thomas has been with White Oak Animal Hospital since 1999. Before implementing the hospital's training program, she worked as a licensed veterinary technician. As the head trainer at White Oak, Paula establishes training protocols, oversees trainers ensure appropriate techniques are being used, instructs classes and conducts behavioral consultations in hands-on dog training.
Paula has 30+ years of experience working with dogs and horses. She says the best part of training is getting the opportunity to help clients with their dog's individual needs. Paula holds an Associate degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology, and is certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. She likes working at White Oak Animal Hospital because it's a "supportive, professional and fun place to be."
At home, Paula has four American Pit Bull Terriers, two Malinois, two cats, four horses, four goats, rats and several chickens. She enjoys riding horses, playing with her dogs and spending time with her family.
